Full course description
The general laboratory safety course introduces principles for safely encountering hazards found in a variety of laboratory workspaces. Laboratory safety is presented in the RAMP framework, which describes hazard recognition, risk assessment, methods to minimize risk by utilizing the hierarchy of hazard controls, and emergency preparation. Learners will also experience an introduction to safety culture and risk maturity, as well as EHS communication options and links to campus support services.
Upon completion of this course, learners will:
- Have an increased awareness of several laboratory hazards and common routes of hazard exposure.
- Know how to recognize hazards, reduce related risks, and prepare for, respond to, and report laboratory emergencies.
