Full course description
Bloodborne pathogen training is required for any employee who may be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials while performing their job duties.
This course specifically addresses non-laboratory roles whose duties include performing first aid or responding to spills that may be contaminated with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
Specific employee roles are defined in the Exposure Control Plan and include responding officers, lifeguards, athletic trainers, the occupational health nurses for campus and 4H, certain personnel in facilities, housing, and EHS, as well as any other role that performs these duties.
The course covers situations in which exposure may occur, exposure routes, specific pathogens, exposure control, vaccines, safe sharps use, post-incident response, and the UTK incident reporting process.
